Psalm 14:1-3 The fool says in his heart, "There is no God."

Proverbs 26 talks all about fools.

My favorite:

18 Like a madman who throws firebrands, arrows, and death,
Is the man who deceives his neighbor,
And says, “I was only joking!”

There's this show I watch.
It's not about gladiators or space aliens or mafioso or medieval kings.
It's about outlandish things.
People trying to change our government from a republic to a dictatorship.
A guy who has plastic surgery to look like a woman, entering the Miss America contest!
A group of thugs saying that the law doesn't apply to them and they put a bounty out for the death of a citizen (and the cops do nothing)!
A governor trying to sell a senate seat to the highest bidder!
A bunch of religious radicals getting an atomic bomb to convert the world!
A man who defends the killing of babies as they leave the womb getting the Nobel Peace Prize, after becoming president! (Come on, who's gonna believe that?)

It's the evening news.

My one son who lives in state has lately been seeking to spend time with me on Saturdays, pretty much like I did with my dad the last six years of his life (after he had been given six months to live).
I like this.
He has a certain window of time available since he runs his shop on the weekend.

We've gone to the movies a couple times, then had a late lunch after.
Today, we're going to another world.

I got to thinking about it yesterday: Why am I so excited about going to see "John Carter (of Mars)"?
This is a film based on Edgar Rice Burroughs' (author of Tarzan) books about a man transported to Mars, and the civilization he finds there.

Well, I've seen the previews and it's been a lonnnng time since I read one of the books.

I'm looking forward to the sense of wonder as I travel to Mars with him and discover what he discovers in a way that no other science fiction film has done for me, that I recall.

That's after I spend this morning discovering what's making a thumping sound under my car, and a squeaking noise under my truck.

Adventure awaits!

To those who say that Romney = Obama, I say nay.
Romney is not a
race baiting,
community organizing,
madrasseh trained islamophile
intent on reducing American military power and stature.

His father was an American republican governor much favored by the state of Michigan, not an anti-colonialist socialist tool from Kenya.
That’s pretty self-evident.

And I don't mean Catholic religious services, which I only thought of after I wrote that.

Many people learn Latin, some in order to read manuscripts of long ago in the original language, some to not be one-upped by those other smarty-pants that made a witty quip dependent on a latin phrase.

But Latin has little practical use these days, so it would be silly for the masses to learn Latin.

I'm contemplating taking the free on-line Constitution Class that Hillsdale is offering on-line.

Then again, I think of all the times I've known that, according to the rules (whatever those rules pertain to), what I did was well within the bounds of those rules, only to find that it didn't matter.
Things were going to go the way the enforcer of the rules felt they should go.

Studying the Constitution may only be an exercise in frustration.

No matter how it was meant to be, or was interpreted to be for centuries, it now only matters what those in power now say it means, and that it will mean something else tomorrow.
